Minister Emerson Appoints Trevor Adey and Kelvin Ng to the BDC Board of Directors

OTTAWA, April 25, 2005 - The Honourable David L. Emerson, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), today appointed Trevor Adey and Kelvin Ng to the BDC's Board of Directors.

"Mr. Adey and Mr. Ng both have demonstrated leadership abilities and skill in the area of finance, which will be a strong asset to the BDC?s Board of Directors," said Minister Emerson. "I am confident they will contribute sound expertise and ideas that will support the BDC's goal of moving innovation and commercialization forward in Canadian small businesses."

Trevor Adey is CEO and co-founder of Consilient, a leading provider of wireless software for mobile devices and phones, headquartered in St. John's, Newfoundland. He has received recognition for his achievements in business, receiving the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst and Young in 2004.

Mr. Adey received his Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University (MUN) and studied sales and business management at Queen's University, Harvard Business School and the University of California at Berkeley. He currently serves as a board member on the Advisory Committee for the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at MUN's Genesis Centre.

Kelvin Ng is currently President of NG North Inc., a management consulting firm. Previously serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the constituency of Cambridge Bay in Nunavut, Mr. Ng also served as Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance, and was also Chairman of the Financial Management Board in the Government of Nunavut.

Mr. Ng has also served in the Government of the Northwest Territories and held various executive positions in the private sector.
